Hi, my name is Melyna and I am glad you stopped by.

At Coffee and Captured Moments, you will find posts about all things coffee as well as captured moments of things I find interesting.  These may include landscapes, wildlife, gardening and travel.  I love trying new coffee shops and looking for fun and unusual coffee related items. I also love dragons and you will find a variety of dragon themed posts too.  It is so much fun looking for something new and unusual to share.

I am sure the site will evolve as time goes on.  For now the categories are Coffee, Dragons, Captured Moments and Health and low carb. (This is a small category that I hope to increase on my journey to better health)

Good morning!

I found this print while looking around Pinterest, which led me to the website www.Stupidfox.net.  It is a great comic and I love the art work.  The artist, Emily Y. Chan (E.Y.Chan), gave the ok to post this comic for our Coffee Monday .  I also bought a print for my kitchen. (I can’t wait!)  If you want to see more of the comic click the link above. Good morning!

I happened across another wonderful dragon artist on Pinterest this week.  Her name is Heidi Buck and she has a lovely website called. The Dragons of Heidi Buck.

I have been working in the garden and  around the house this week.  We are already seeing wildflowers and butterflies.  This drawing of a Thistle dragon and butterfly  by Heidi Buck are perfect.

Coffee Monday

Good morning!

Yesterday I saw a Facebook post where the person was lamenting on the distance from their bed to the coffee maker.  I then searched for coffee alarm clock.  There were two that stood out.  One is in the kickstarter process but absolutely amazing and appeals to  my inner geek.  It is called the Barisieur

See what I mean?  It comes in a sleek black and wood grain,

I have decided to learn to knit.  I love outdoor things like gardening and hiking, so this was an idea that I had entertained, but never really pursued.  It is a bit frustrating (as I was warned it would be), but like any thing, else, it takes practice and patience.

I went to Pinterest to look for information for beginner knitters and leapfrogged to this tumblr blog Queer-Knits  because they had a Pinterest link to a great Sea dragon shawl by Ambah O’Brien.

Inspired by sea creatures real and imagined, the Sea Dragon Shawl is knit from side to side, with short rows forming a shallow crescent shape. Its comfortable proportions are perfect for wrapping around the neck scarf-style or wearing around the shoulders. Choose between a small or large Sea Dragon Shawl and showcase your favourite yarn: go crazy with your leftover yarn stash and knit each segment in a different colour, use a gradient or variegated yarn, or go with your favourite solid colour combination.

Suitable for adventurous beginners, techniques include: simple short rows, picking up stitches, simple increases and decreases.

It states that the pattern is suitable for adventurous  beginners.  I am not there yet, but some day. 🙂
