I was catching up with the blogs I follow this morning. Donna of My OBT had shared this fascinating story about observation bee hives. What do you think? I love the idea.
You know when you go out to your favorite coffee shop and they add the cardboard sleeve to the cup to keep you from burning your hands as you carefully wrap them around that precious cup of sanity?
Ever thought about making your morning cup a bit more stylish? I went to Etsy yesterday looking at ideas for Coffee Monday and one of the first things that popped up were these beautiful knit coffee cozies.
The shop is Knitting Wonders and they have Knit Scarves, Hats, Mittens, Blankets, Patterns & More!
These cozies look soft and come in several colors. They are having a sale on these now, so get one for yourself and a friend. These would be fun stocking stuffers or as a gift for the coffee lover in your life.
Theo introduced me to Topaz Studio. He uses other photo editing software too, but I have become fascinated with Topaz. His digital art and wildlife photos are gorgeous.
It’s been three weeks since Irma, and there are still several thousand people in my area without power. 😦 I feel so, so bad for them. I hope the situation is resolved soon.
The good news? There are no hurricanes forming in the Atlantic right now. Another couple weeks, and the season will be over until next year.
Irma ripped half the screens out of the lanai, leaving it open to the elements. Mostly, this has been okay, as I can now take pics of the birds at the feeder without scaring them. I draped chamo cloth across the bottom half of the glass doors and shoot through that. This is a female cardinal. She’s tinted red by the rising sun, and I bumped the color, which is why she looks more red than usual. 🙂 There are a couple drops of water hanging from her beak.

Good morning and happy Friday!
The weekend is almost here and I am ready to relax. Well, not really. I have a long list of things that I need to do, but I still plan to make time to relax while working in the garden, or enjoying the wildflowers while running errands. I may even enjoy a glass of wine or an ice-cold beer and watch the sunset. When I found these cute earrings in Blanco the last time I was there , they reminded me of all these things.
I found these earrings at Brieger Pottery. I attempted to find the company listed on the display paper. I did not find any active sites, but I did find funbeadwork.com , which I think is the same person.
I hope you have a pleasant weekend,
I always look forward to spring in the Texas hill country. Bluebonnets, Gaillardia, primroses, paintbrushes and so many more. As we were driving along a rural road I spotted a yellow flower standing among hundreds of Scarlet Paintbrushes. It was a first for me. I had to go back and see if it was actually a yellow variation of the flower. I was pleasantly surprised to find that it was and that there were several scattered throughout the area.
For more information about this wildflower and many others click the link below. They are an amazing resource.
Hi, my name is Melyna and I am glad you stopped by.
At Coffee and Captured Moments, you will find posts about all things coffee as well as captured moments of things I find interesting. These may include landscapes, wildlife, gardening and travel. I love trying new coffee shops and looking for fun and unusual coffee related items. I also love dragons and you will find a variety of dragon themed posts too. It is so much fun looking for something new and unusual to share.
I am sure the site will evolve as time goes on. For now the categories are Coffee, Dragons, Captured Moments and Health and low carb. (This is a small category that I hope to increase on my journey to better health)
Please take a moment to explore.
Thank you for stopping by.
Recently, I received an unexpected package in the mail. I recognized the name on the return address , but could not imagine what they would be sending me. It turned out to be a beautiful framed cross-stitched dragon. I did not know why I was sent this amazing gift and contacted the friend that sent it.
It was made by Jennifer Hesse for an auction held by The Knightly Order of the Fiat Lux (KOFL) ,a fraternal non-profit organization dedicated to serving the community, ( http://www.kofl-games.org/about.php )
The auction supported The Autism Society of North Carolina.( http://www.autismsociety-nc.org/ ) Jennifer put a lot of time into this beautiful piece and I am honored that someone wanted me to have this gorgeous dragon. There was no note, and Jennifer couldn’t say who had won the auction or who had sent it to me, other than they are a mutual friend.
