Dragon Thursday

This week I was feeling a bit whimsical when I began my search for Dragon Thursday.     I decided to look around Youtube and found dragon kites.  There are so many.  This one is from Photopuppet and is appropriately called A very Cool Dragon Kite

Dragon Thursday

I recently listened to an audiobook  written and narrated by Neil Gaiman  called
 Norse Mythology.
I have always been intrigued by Norse Mythology and enjoy reading about it and seeing how it is woven into modern culture.  My first Neil Gaiman book was American Gods.

When I went searching for something for dragon Thursday, I stumbled upon Wear The Rare, an Etsy shop featuring Norse, Scandinavian and Viking style jewelry.   Click on the photos below to go to the Wear The Rare Etsy shop.

First is this dragon pendant.  It is handmade in sterling silver.

Dragon Thursday

I recently visited Blanco to have lunch with my best friend.  We always visit Brieger Pottery and Blanco Gardens after lunch.   This week I found a wonderful surprise by one of my favorite artists,  Fraser Harris out of Buda Texas.

This is the first dragon I have seen in his work.  Even though it is Dragon Thursday I have to add one more tile to the post.

Jackalope

Love it.  If you get a chance, stop by Brieger pottery and check out all the wonderful pottery and gifts.

Dragon Thursday

Hello!

This week I visited the Etsy site again and found another shop with amazing dragon creations.  The shop is

The artist and shop owner is Astrid Ayora Carvajal .  Here is more about her and her creations from the About section of her Etsy shop.

I’m currently a full time sculptor of my art, i studied graphic design and i worked as an illustrator before.
I opened my store to share with people my Polymer Clay creations, I love sculpting, i try my best every time, I use the best quality materials I can find, spend hours thinking and playing with the clay until finally i get one design ready.

Every product is meticulous sculpted, decorated and sometimes painted and its part of a work process. I often look at each of my creations and wonder who is going to adopt them and what would they see in them. After all this time my old pieces are still finding owners, which makes me really happy. Nothing magical is meant to be disposed in this world 🙂

I find gratification every time somebody express satisfaction when they find an item on my store.

My product is not liked by everyone, but its liked by the right ones. Each of them already have an owner, they just haven’t found them yet.

What drew me to her site were the shoulder dragons.  Unfortunately, she is no longer taking orders for these dragons but you can still view them at her shop.  Gorgeous!

You can also order custom dragons like this one :

There are also custom cake toppers!

Amazing creations and I have not even started on the jewelry.  I think I will save that for another day.  In the meantime, please visit Makosla Creations on Etsy.  There are so many wonder dragons to meet.

Dragon Thursday

Hello!

This week my search for dragons led me to Etsy.   I love finding fun and unique items and the Etsy site hosts shops for many clever and creative artists.  At one such shop, I found an unusual dragon bracelet.

The shop is VaniLlamaArt

There were two dragon bracelets that caught my eye.  The first was this fantasy dragon bracelet.

The other was the bracelet done in a cool galaxy finish, titled Nebula Dragon bracelet

These are custom-made.  Not a mold.  Each bracelet is  made to order.

From the store:

Dragon’s head and each body segment (beads) are made from polymer clay, carefully hand sculpted, touched with metallic pigments and sealed with varnis; they are strung on a black cotton cord.
The bracelet length: can be customised
Metal fastening: in antique brass or silver colour.

>>> IMPORTANT CUSTOM ORDER INFO:
Each dragon is fully hand sculpted and decorated (not casted in molds) so it takes some time to make it. Also sizes, shapes and colors can vary a bit but style will stay – I prefer it to look a bit different every time – so each one is unique 🙂

The artist also has a link to a video on how they makes this beautiful jewelry.  Amazing.

The artist’s name is Dorota and you can find out more about them and their art here:  About

Dragon Thursday

Hello!

I am excited to share a new to me artist with you today.  Once again Pinterest was the catalyst.  I saw an adorable print on someones board and it led me to Sarah Clemens website,  http://www.clemensart.com

The print I found is titled Uncle Fang.

Uncle Fang by Sarah Clemens

Uncle Fang is under her fantasy art Gallery 1.  You can buy this print (and many others) here: http://www.clemensart.com/prints.htm

She also has a wonderful art series called Magnus & Loki.  Magnus is a cat and Loki is his dragon friend.

They have their own website. http://www.clemensart.com/mlindex.htm

Their bio from their website:

Magnus the cat and
Loki the Norwegian Speartail Dragon were adopted at the same time from an animal shelter.

They developed an unanticipated mindlink and became inseperable.

Their enlightened owners let
them stay together and the results range from amusing to disastrous!

You can buy prints here: Open Edition Prints.  and also find greeting cards and other fun Magnus and Loki items on their Cafepress site.

I enjoyed several cups of coffee while looking through all of her wonderful art. There is so much to explore.   Grab a cup of your favorite brew and enjoy.  Dragons, Cats and so much more.

About Sarah Clemens (from her website)

Sarah Clemens graduated from Florida Atlantic University with a degree in fine arts and art history, and the conviction that she would always be an artist in one capacity or another. She has freelanced in logo design and bookcover illustration and photography, worked as the curator of exhibits at a science museum and for the last fifteen years been a medical illustrator.
But the need for self-expression is most important, and she began creating her own challenges, in the form of large oil paintings of friends and family members. Her realistic approach was second nature, after so many years of meticulous detailing in medical illustration. She has shown her work at galleries in Palm Beach, Florida and Boca Raton, Florida, Scottsdale Arizona and Beverly Hills, as well as exhibiting at the Society of the Four Arts in Palm Beach and the Armory Art Center in West Palm Beach and the Mesa Art Center in Mesa, Arizona. A recent move to the Southwest has been inspiring, and trips to the Grand Canyon for intensive photographic shoots are sure to show up in her paintings.
